Hunger games Mockingjay Part 2 Movie Review

Hunger games Mockingjay Part 2 Movie Review

A haunting conclusion to the Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay exceeded all expectations. While the movie strayed a bit from the book, every difference was added to give clarity to scenes from the book that are seen as rushed. So whether a casual movie goer or an avid fan of the novels, audiences are sure to be content with the movie’s effective storytelling.

The Hunger Games movies have always had wonderful (and believable) CGI, and Mockingjay is no exception. From explosions to machineguns to monstrous mutts, Mockingjay is an action packed movie everyone will love.

Jennifer Lawrence gives an amazing performance as the rebellious Mockingjay we all know and love, while also portraying a side of Katniss audiences weren’t used to seeing: a haggard, frustrated, and tired girl who will do whatever it takes to make the senseless violence end. Josh Hutcherson gives an especially chilling performance as Peeta Mellark, who has endured unimaginable torture. Hutcherson’s performance of a character with obvious signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder who is forced to question everything he thought was real is one that will hit audiences and chill them to their core.

However, what may be the most gripping part of Mockingjay Part 2 is its unabashed, unapologetic look at the violence of war. From the perspective of Katniss Everdeen, viewers are given a glimpse of everything from the strategic planning to war propaganda and everything in between. A particular battle scene in front of the President’s Mansion shows audiences just how messy and confusing the heat of battle can be, how plans can go awry and how collateral damage can easily get out of control.

It couldn’t have been planned, but Mockingjay Part 2 was released right when it was needed. From the Taliban to ISIS, 9/11 to Paris, many lines and scenes from the movie will resonate with audiences on a very deep level. While sometimes extremely difficult to watch, Mockingjay Part 2 reveals why the Hunger Games trilogy has become such a staple to the culture of this generation. The finale of the Hunger Games trilogy doesn’t end with the energetic, badass dystopian hero many audiences have grown accustomed to; the trilogy ends leaving audiences with a somber note, a figurehead of a hero who is tired of being played by friends and enemies alive, a hero who is tired of senseless violence and pain and is desperate to do anything to make it stop. Mockingjay Part 2 is a must see for all because it leaves audiences with the somber idea that maybe the violent dystopian society isn’t as fictitious as we’d all like to believe.
