The Los Angeles Dodgers have won the 2020 World Series for the first time since 1988

Well ladies and gentlemen it finally happened. On Tuesday night, October 27th the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1. Making the Dodgers the winners of the 2020 World Series, but also making it a close to quite a surprising season of baseball. As of right now we don’t know what the future holds for Major League teams, or even how the league will approach the 2021 season. For now anyways let’s recap on this year and how the World Series went for both the LA Dodgers and TB Rays.

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2020 World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays

After a very long and strange year of baseball the LA Dodgers are the one who came out victorious. This year made it their 20th World Series appearance, but only their 6th World Series win. They also had the most wins in the league this season and only loss 17 times. Needless to say it was very clear which team was more superior between the two. Not necessarily  because of average game wins but overall team managing.

Besides winning the World Series it’s pretty obvious the Dodgers were doing extremely well this season. With powerhouses like Cody Bellinger, Justin Turner, and newly traded from the Boston Red Sox, Mookie Betts, the LA Dodgers were easily bound to be one of the best in league.  Mike Petriello of MLB news writes, “The Dodgers have scored the most runs in the National League. They’ve allowed the fewest runs in baseball. They have the best defense in baseball, by one metric, and their hitters have been the second most clutch in baseball by another. They’re openly treating the rest of the season as a tryout camp for October, because why not?”.

Given that statement and the Dodgers overall stats through the years It’s easy to say they had the Series in the bag. Petriello also writes “But this… this is something else. Despite the fact that they’ve gone to the World Series in each of the last two seasons — and yes, Dodger fans, lost twice, we know — the 2019 collection might be the best of this entire seven-year stretch. We can say that because it’s the best Dodgers team in Los Angeles history. If you’re under 70 years old, it’s the best Dodger team most people alive have ever seen.” As true as it is that the Los Angeles Dodgers weren’t as good this year as they were last year, it also stands that each year the teams lineup and rotation (starter and defensive) gets more and more extensive and skilled. Which only goes to show that the managing is truly great for LA.

Although you could say I’m biased towards the Dodgers, mainly because they beat the Rays and the Rays beat the Yankees, I do really believe the Dodgers are just such a strong team. Not really because of team stats but overall player stats. Dave Roberts does do a great job managing his team and the progression is really shown on the field.    Alas we have to wait quite a few months to see if the Dodgers can continue their streak of great stats. Who knows maybe they’ll suck or maybe they’ll take another World Series win. Till next year. We wait.
