How to make your Halloween scary and memorable

1) Budget your Halloween costume to see how much money you will need to create it.

2) Sketch your costume out to have an image to go by when making the costume.

3) Go to a craft store or a thrift store to find fabric and accessories for your costume.

4) Buy makeup and liquid latex from Amazon to make your face spooky for Halloween.

5) A week or so before Halloween, cut out the fabric and sew the costume together, and add accessories.

6) On Halloween, apply your makeup, put your costume on and finally, have a fun and spooky Halloween!

Emmadress

Halloween is filled with family, friends and spooks. For Emma Jackson (12), Halloween is one of her favorite holidays. “It’s a nice escape from having to be who you are and it’s nice to see how far I can take my skills”, Jackson says about why she loves Halloween. Sophomore year she was a zombie and freshman year she was Sherlock Holmes. This year, she is planning to be a vampire. For the most part, people do not realize how much goes into the making of a costume. A lot of effort and thought has to go into a costume to make it the way it is. “Costuming has really opened up a lot of doors for me. I have made a lot of friends and connections through it”, Jackson says.

Corina

For Corina Gribble (12), making homemade Halloween costumes has been a hobby that she hopes to keep up throughout her life. Her costume for this year is Princess Bubblegum from the show “Adventure Time”. Her inspiration for costumes comes from TV. shows in which she likes the character or the clothes they wear. In the past, she has created costumes from Japanese anime to Ty Lee, from Avatar: The Last Airbender. “I do two different kinds of things to make costumes. There is one where I fully make the costume and there is other times where I will do Closet Cosplay” says Gribble. Closet Cosplay is known as taking clothes from your closet to put together a costume. “I like Halloween because you get to dress up as anything you want and get to go out with friends and get candy.” Gribble says.
