Disney Channel is starting something new with their High School Musical franchise. High School Musical 4 is planning to debut, but the movie still needs to be put together. On March 1, Disney Channel’s PR Twitter called for a nationwide casting search for this movie. The movie is planning to bring in a new group of Wildcats and a new group of West High Knights.

Many rumors have circulated around this movie, including some former cast members to accompany the new ones. Ashley Tisdale, who plays Sharpay, may make a comeback in High School Musical 4. At the end of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Sharpay was attending local community college and was planning to help Ms. Darbus, East High’s theater teacher. This leaves a door open for Sharpay in the fourth movie, and possibly her twin brother Ryan,  Lucas Grabeel.

With the excitement unraveling for kids who grew up with this movie, from learning their dance moves to singing along to their music, there are many expectations for High School Musical 4. However, without the love story of Gabriella and Troy, will it ever be the same? The characters and relationships produced in the first three High School Musical movies will never be replaced by a fourth movie, however, we can hope.
