Fresh and new artists of Fall 2016

With new seasons comes new releases in the music industry. Oakton students were asked which new artists they believe are on the come up. Keep your eyes peeled and ears open for these names in the near future.
1) Nav

Nav, known as “navmusic” on SoundCloud, is an R&B artist/producer who’s been on the map since early last year. This year, Nav broke through with a feature on Travis Scott’s track “Biebs in the Trap”, which was part of the album “Birds in the Trap Sing Mcknight” that debuted at number one on the iTunes charts. 2) Aminé

You may have heard of Aminé because of their summer hit “Caroline” that recently climbed the charts in the past month. Aminé’s music is upbeat pop with hip hop influences that are guaranteed to make you dance. Listen to and watch their feel good hit single “Caroline” here. If you’re a pulp fiction fan, pay attention throughout the video.

3) Roy Woods

Roy Woods is a Canadian singer/songwriter that is currently signed to one of the biggest labels in Hollywood, OVO sound. With influences like other OVO signees, PARTYNEXTDOOR and The Weeknd, Wood’s music has more of a mellow tone to it. His first album “Walking at Dawn” wasn’t given the credit it’s due, with potential hits such as his song “Switch”, which you can listen to here

4) The  Chainsmokers

The Chainsmokers are a group many people know, but don’t remember. In 2014, The Chainsmokers first came to the public eye with their debut song “#Selfie” that went viral, but soon died out. Back again, The Chainsmokers have changed their sound for the better and are here to dominate the charts. Check out their most recent song,”Closer”, featuring rising Indie artist Halsey here.

5) Qasim Sultan

Qasim Sultan is a SoundCloud-based R&B singer with pop and hip hop influences throughout his music. If you enjoyed listening to Aminé, you’ll definitely enjoy some of Sultan’s songs. Judge for yourself here!
