NBA Mid-Season report

“Kevin durant has become the youngest player to hit 20,000 career points!” “LeBron James is playing the best basketball of his career right now!” “Steph Curry is back to his MVP self!” “The Boston Celtics are still one of the best in East!”

There are a lot of such headlines going around the NBA right now, and as the middle of the season and the NBA all-star game are approaching quickly, it’s time we start looking at each team’s position right now.

Let’s start with the undeniable top of the NBA, the Golden State Warriors. They are currently sitting at the top of the Western conference and at the top of the league as a whole with an astounding record of 33-9. After losing two-time MVP Steph Curry for a month due to injury, the Warriors unleashed their second MVP Kevin Durant. Yes, they are the only team with two MVP’s at their disposal! Kevin Durant went on a tear breaking the NBA with Steph Curry sitting on the sidelines. He averaged 32.5 PPG and led the Warriors to almost perfect record. The Warriors vs Cavaliers rivalry is becoming more and more intense now with another win for Golden State over Cleveland on January 15. The Golden State Warriors are right now, undeniably, the best team in the NBA.

Next, let’s talk about the Cleveland Cavaliers, other wise known as LeBron James. The 33 year old superstar is basically the whole team – he is the backbone. Right now, the Cavaliers defense is dwindling, and there are rumors that LeBron James is leaving this summer. That can’t be any good for the Cavaliers. Right now they are third in the Eastern Conference, a place where a team of their caliber shouldn’t be. They sit behind the Toronto Raptors and the Kyrie Irving led- Boston Celtics. Isaiah Thomas, the former Celtic, now Cavs all-star, is just a few games into his Cavaliers tenure after sitting out most games due to injuries sustained last season. Although he is taking his time, the Cavaliers need him to blend in really fast in order to be successful.

The Boston Celtics sit at the top of the Eastern Conference right now. They have an astounding 34 to 11 record led by Kyrie Irving. Their scoring is flawless and their defense is amazing too. They recently hoisted an incredible 26 point comeback win against James Harden and the Rockets in a top-tier clash of juggernauts.

Other teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Los Angeles Clippers are in middle world in the Western Conference. Their big 3 of Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Carmelo Anthony hasn’t been as successful as people expected it to, but they are still somehow managing.

The NBA is in a good spot right now with the Golden State Warriors demolishing all the competition. Although the Boston Celtics are playing their best basketball right now, it is unlikely that they will make it to the finals. The expected matchup is still Golden State vs Cleveland as LeBron James is too much for the Celtics to handle for a whole series. The trade day and all star break is coming up so we look forward that now!
