On May 2nd, Oakton’s Students Demand Action club is hosting a party to raise awareness of gun violence and the need for background checks. The party will take place in Mr. McCulla’s room, 228. There will be food and trivia, and not to mention the exciting prizes of hydro flasks and airpods!

There will be two parts to the trivia, a team round and an individual round. The team round will be a bracket of student pairs against teacher pairs, in rounds of two minute to see who advances. The winners of the team round get airpods! The individual round will be on paper, and the winner of this will get the hydro flask. The questions will involve pop culture as well as gun control knowledge.

Students Demand Action is a new club this year, focused on the non partisan advocacy for gun control. The club had a strong start with a trip to advocacy day in Washington DC, and has been hard at work to plan this exciting event, as well as learn more about the importance and procedure of lockdown drills.

It is so important to stay informed about important issues, so no matter what your political views are, come to Mr. McCulla’s room on Thursday to have fun with your friends and test your knowledge!
