What’s Up With the Royals?

On April 27, 2019, Daily Mail released a story about Prince William cheating on Princess Catherine. While this rumor has not been confirmed, it has been traveling its way around the media rapidly. This rumor started around March, when “The Sun” published a story about how Kate Middleton and Rose Hanbury, her best friend, got in a fight. Nobody was quite sure what their falling out was about, but some people had some inferences.

The media thought that it was about an unknown affair. All of a sudden Kate wanted nothing to do with Rose, but William was trying his best to keep them friends. After “The Sun” released this article, it started a chain reaction, The Daily Mail then released an article about an alleged cheating scandal. Even though there is now article after articles about this situation, Prince William and Kate have not spoken up about it. Several tweets were made by reporters for The Sun, such as Giles Coren and Nicole Cliffe. Coren stated, “Yes, it is an affair, I haven’t read the piece but everyone knows it’s an affair darling.”

A couple of weeks later, the rumors start to die down. Prince Williams lawyer still tried to end the false accusations. He stated, “In addition to being false and highly damaging, the publication of false speculation in respect of our clients’ private life also constitutes a breach of his privacy pursuant to Article 8 of the European Convention to Human Rights. This caused the rumor to go viral. The media even brought Meghan Markle into it. “Meghan Markle will breathe and the British media will start … shaming her for no reason but when Prince William has an affair, they barely talk about it.” An anonymous person stated. “Prince William and Palace courtiers have done a deal with the British press. In exchange for staying quiet about his affair, they will allow them to smear and slander Meghan.” Another anonymous person added.

What is your opinion on these accusations? Do you think the media is telling the truth, or just coming up with another way to cause an uproar?
