With the winter holidays near, here are five different wintery book recommendations for you to read by the fire.

The Enchanted Sonata by Heather Dixon Wallwork

The Enchanted Sonata is a musical retelling of The Nutcracker with 4.1 stars online. Clara is a pianist, set to marry another pianist, but everything changes when she receives a mysterious package for Christmas. The package contains a nutcracker that ends up whisking her away to a magical world full of adventure. 

The Afterlife of Holy Chase by Cynthia Hand

The Afterlife of Holy Chase by Cynthia Hand is a retelling of A Christmas Carol with 3.9 stars online. After being visited by three ghosts trying to show Holly what a terrible person she is, she brushes them off and keeps living her life the way she always had. Then she dies, and has now become the Ghost of Christmas Past, tasked with changing the newest “Scrooge’s” ways.
