Present Parade

Present Parade

Christmas is a religious holiday that occurs during winter break on December 25th. Even non religious people still participate in Christmas. On Christmas you can eat Christmas food, spend time with family that lives far away, and most known, open gifts. These gifts could vary from gift cards, kitchen supplies, and even clothes. But sometimes gifts could be weird and wacky, and very unexpected. What are some weird Christmas gifts that people have received?

Weird Gifts

Amanda Watts had received a used vegetable spiralizer, she says “One of my kiddos brought in a vegetable spiralizer for me for Valentines Day, which is odd enough, but it wasn’t until I got home that I looked and the box was open. I took it out and there was sticky residue and chunks of peel in the pronged end. It was definitely one of the weirder gifts.” Jennifer Silos received a used thermometer, used nail polish, and wet fish tank rocks. Adrian Rodriguez was given a game based on Snoopy the Dog, he says “It was a very weird game, and it felt like it was for children only.” Scott Li quotes “My parents got me this Lego box because I was really into Legos at that time, and I was really excited. But when I opened it there was a bag of cereal inside of it.’ An odd present that was given to Liane Marutani-Cole was a three-eyed fish. Liane says “My students caught a three eyed fish in the polluted stream by their house. They were so proud! So maybe more freakishly gross than awkward… but I guess it was awkward trying to sincerely thank them!” A math teacher going by the name of Rachel Seibert quotes “I’m a math teacher… I had a student give me a sweatshirt that had the symbol for pi followed by ‘mp’ in a very large font across the front – as in pimp. Very awkward to say the least. Amy Defrancescotwiz who teaches third grade quotes “Mine was a half empty bottle of perfume. It smelled so pretty. I opened it and then the student told me to spray it. I did and then he said ‘ok i need to bring it back to my mom so she doesn’t miss it’. He was a student who couldn’t afford a gift.” The last gift is from a kindergarten teacher who got a gift from one of their students. Chelsea Morse says “A kindergartener handed me a card and looked so proud. They said they wrote it all by themselves. He asked me what it said, and I said that ‘You’re the best teacher ever’. He was so happy and proud. I think he found it on the bus. I showed his mom and we died. This was a couple of years ago and I still have it hanging up in my classroom.” For clarification the card said “You do be so ugly weakling”
