Blizzard 2017
Over a trillion pounds of snow is set to fall on Fairfax County in the coming days. The news of the impending snow storm on the East Coast has students eagerly anticipating a day or more off from school.
When March began, students and teachers regrettably began to accept that there would not be any snow days for the 2016-2017 school year. The winter season has been unusually warm this year, with high temperatures in the 60’s and 70’s on certain days.
Warm weather tends to make people excited, as it provides an excuse to break out shorts and flip flops early and reminds students that the end of the school year is not as far away as they thought. However, this year’s warm winter seemed to mostly disappoint students — because it meant they missed their opportunity for snow days.
However, it looks like the snowstorm that is planned to hit tonight, Mar. 13, and throughout the day on Tuesday is changing these odds. Fairfax County has already begun taking action with the news of the coming storm. The board declared that all after school activities after 6:15 were cancelled today. And the board recently announced that all schools will be cancelled tomorrow, Mar. 14.
#FCPS will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, March 14. Happy Pi Day!
