NBA Season Preview
This NBA season is all about one question: who can beat the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have a starting five that includes four all stars and Zaza Pachulia who, to be honest, is pretty bad. The Warriors also have the best bench in the NBA and, during this huge off season, they added two sharpshooters to help space the floor when guys like Draymond Green and Javale McGee are on the floor. The Warriors also have two MVP candidates in Steph Curry and Kevin Durant along with a DPOY candidate in Draymond Green. Don’t forget about Klay Thompson who is probably the third greatest shooter of all time. By the way, Steph is number one. The Warriors seemed unbeatable in the playoffs going sixteen and one, but after this off season there may be a few teams to challenge them. The three biggest will be the Rockets, Cavaliers, and the Thunder.
The Rockets have a perennial all star who is the seventh greatest point guard of all time in Chris Paul. But the real reason the Rockets have a chance is because of James Harden. James put up one of the greatest offensive seasons of all time last year. He didn’t win MVP, but that was because Russell Westbrook averaged a triple double. The real reason the Rockets are a big threat is because of their depth. They have Aaron Gordon, a sixth man winner along with a lot of other talented players. The series would go six games at most with the Warriors winning. That is nothing against the Rockets, that is just how good the Warriors are.
The second team, and the team who is probably the biggest threat, is the Cleveland Cavaliers. The reason the Cavs weren’t the first team I mentioned is because of chemistry problems and injury. The all star point guard the Cavs acquired in Isiah Thomas had hip surgery and no one really knows when he will be back. Lebron James was also injured during the pre-season which means that he couldn’t build on court chemistry with his new teammates. For these reasons, I believe that the Cavs will be the number two seed behind the Celtics, but when playoffs come and Lebron starts to try they will cruise through the easy east. The series against the Warriors will go six games with a Warriors win.
The final team on this list is also the weakest team. The OKC Thunder have a great starting line up with Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, and Paul George. They also have a great defender in Andre Roberson. The problem for the Thunder is when the starting lineup isn’t in. The Thunder traded all their role players for the two stars. Now the best player coming off the bench for the Thunder is Cameron Payne, who is bad, just bad at basketball. The big three in OKC will carry them to the three seed in the tough west. However, they stand no chance against the powerhouse Warriors. The series will go only five games with OKC barely winning a close game. However, the series may be closer than it seems like it will. That is because Russell Westbrook may try and explode on his former teammate, Kevin Durant, but even this will only push the series to six games.
