The iPhone X
The new iPhone introduces a new era of technology in phones. The iPhone X continues gains more popularity day by day as more people get to know about the new features of the phone. An Apple employee says,“The lines start at 6 AM everyday because we don’t have enough phones, so it’s a first come first serve basis. We only get a few phones ineveryday so we end up with a lot of orders.”
One very unique feature of the phone is that it is entirely screen. With the home button gone, the user unlocks the phone with face ID recognition. With many tries of fooling the camera with different looks, the face ID comes through most of the time. Sophomore Claire Wang, user of the iPhone, expresses that for the price it was a good buy. Claire says that she doesn’t miss the home button that much because it is still easy to navigate through the phone. She enjoys making animated emojis with her face too.
In addition to the new phone, the new iOS brings a new look from the iPhone 5s and forwards. For older phones, specifically the iPhone 5s, the upgrade seems to be destroying the value of phone as it makes the phone slower and glitchy. For the iPhone X and iPhone 8 however, the new software is made according to the new features. In the absence of the home button, the new software allows the user to swipe up and down to access the features usually used by the home button.
From a personal hands-on experience, the iPhone has amazing camera quality for both the front and the rear camera. The iPhone is of a size between the regular iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7+, and the new size is convenient and isn’t too big. A cool new feature of the phone is wireless charging. Subject to come out in 2018, mats will be sold for the phone to placed on to charge.
However, popular opinion over the internet says that the new iPhone introduces many new problems. First, the iPhone seems to be difficult in using in cold weather. This is because of the material the phone uses. The phone also sometimes displays a green line that gets in the way of using the phone.
Despite these issues with the phone, people still line up everyday to get the phone.
