Black Panther: does it live up to the hype?

Probably one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2018, dropped last week, and the record were crazy. It earned $370.5 Million in the first two days of it’s release! The question many may ask, is was it worth all the hype? “It should have had more of a plot”, says ninth grader Jason Hanker. While this was a popular review, I feel that the movie had fantastic plot, and the blend of action, and graphics, were just too good.

The Black Panther was about King T’challa, a king of the country, Wakanda. His father, the previous king, T’chaka, had just been killed, making T’challa the king. Wakanda possessed a metal called Vibranium, which in this movie, is the most powerful substance on earth. Wakanda however, claims it does not possess anything and puts on a cover making the country look like a third world country, as they do not wish to share. After a robbery of old Wakandan weapons in a British museum, King, T’challa sets out to find the thieves and bring them back. After failing to do so, a California man, Erik Kilmonger, kills the murderer, and brings him back. He claims he is he son of the previous king, making him cousins with T’challa. He claims that T’challa’s dad killed his dad. He challenges T’chaka for the throne and wins it by throwing T’challa off a cliff. However with the help of a neighboring tribe, the Wakandans, and T’challa, who survived, take back the throne, with T’challa killing Kilmonger in the end.

In my opinion, this movie lives up to the hype it created. It has a great plot, great action, and great graphics. The story is very captivating and is very intriguing. I watched the movie two times, and both times, I was fully pleased with the result. However, due to it being almost sold out even after a week, I had to settle for a seat in the front!
