Tilted Towers: soon to fall.

What began as a fan theory turns into an incoming reality. After a large multitude of signs from Epic, it is more than likely that tilted towers, the iconic, action packed battleground of Fortnite, may be leaving us soon.

There are an unbelievable amount of clues that have lead the community to believe that Tilted Towers is going to be removed with a blast. To begin, there has been a very quickly approaching meteor in the sky in the play area. After a bit of observation people noticed that all the telescopes on the map are pointed up at said meteor. Very quick speculation of a meteor hitting the island was theorized, but no one expected tilted towers. After a small amount of time, people started noticing that Epic Games isn’t paying much attention to people’s complaints of tilted. This was very suspicious for players who know Epic Games as one of the most community-appeasing developers. The Thought of tilted being destroyed was sealed into place by one very specific thing though, and on the console version of Fortnite, players began experiencing controller vibrations that weren’t prompted by gunfire, explosions, or anything that you’d assume would cause controller vibration. One curious but very intelligent fan decided that he would translate the vibrations into morse code. To his amazing discovery, he found that the morse code translated to ‘SOS D 5 418’. In other words “Save our Souls, D5 (the coordinates for tilted towers), March 18th.” The final portion of the theory is the most interesting. The map of Fortnite’s battle area has a striking resemblance to Poland and its cities. When put on top of each other, major cities line up. For example, Retail Row in the game lines up with Warsaw, a city that is regarded as an amazing place to shop. Tilted Towers lines up with Poznan, a town that was near to the impact of an asteroid. But why a meteor? Why would Epic Games decide to turn the most iconic area in Fortnite into a crater?

There are many reasons. First, there has been many complaints about Tilted Towers, not as a location, but how it affects the rest of the map. With 30-50 people dropping at tilted towers, it leaves the rest of the massive map with only 50 people. This means that heavily stacked areas like Pleasant Park are not as competitive or action packed. At times not dropping anywhere near Tilted Towers causes a very slow game with minimal contact to others. Another common complaint is that it’s too packed. There is so much good loot in each building, with every building 5-10 players in it. All the action dies down in 2 minutes, when it could be spread along the map for a more consistent dose. The final reason is that there is a PvE version of Fortnite called, “Save the World.” In that game, rather than the players fighting each other, the players fight against aliens. It would only make sense that once the meteor lands, the game is made into completely free-to-play and is somehow correlated into the PvP game.

Overall, most of the Fortnite community is excited about this. The meteor hitting on the 18th gives Epic Games a huge chance to show their creativity. With all the potential that this upcoming event gives, the world is watching closely, because this is Epic’s chance to make a huge move.
