“Keeping Up With The Kardashians” is Canceled
The famous family will be ending their wildly popular reality TV show after 14 years and 20 seasons.
These days, you can’t go on the internet without hearing about the Kardashians. The famous family, consisting of Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, and Rob Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and “momager” Kris Jenner, are best known for their reality TV show “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” which has been airing on E! network for more than 13 years. It makes sense that many fans were shocked when the family announced over social media in early September that the show will be ending its run in 2021 with the conclusion of season 20.
The Kardashian-Jenner family has stirred up a lot of drama as they have continued to grow their followings, becoming some of the most-followed people on Instagram, and whether you love them or you hate them, it is impossible to deny the influence they have on pop culture. Having so much of an influence on so many people, especially young girls, controversy is inevitable. All of the family’s members have been subject to harsh media scrutiny for scandals such as Kim’s 72-day marriage, feuds with numerous celebrities, cheating, and sister fights. Though the family has received so much backlash over years, they have somehow managed to remain proponent social media figures and household names, which is a true testament to their true influential power and a strong fanbase.
It’s no wonder that the announcement of the show’s cancellation came with a great shock from fans and critics alike. On the one hand, fans mourned the loss of the reality TV show that created a cultural footprint on today’s generation. Critics, however, questioned the show’s motives in the first place, with many arguing it is simply another way to get publicity. Nevertheless, the family attested their appreciation for their audience, saying they “will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping [their] careers and changing [their] lives forever.” Though the news was extremely devastating for the millions of KUWTK viewers, fans understood the family’s decision, spreading lots of love and support over social media.
Even though the show is ending, the Kardashians aren’t going away just yet. Their success will undoubtedly continue with or without the show due to their social media presence. All of the Kardashian-Jenner daughters have established businesses and careers that can stand on their own and further expand their platform. Even though the show is canceled, the major impact of the Kardashian-Jenner clan means that fans will always be able to keep up.
