Spring break, a lovely time to sit back, relax, and not have to worry about school work. Although, after a while, this routine of kicking back, gaming, and watching movies will get boring. So, the outlook has taken it upon ourselves to compile a list of 10 fun things that you can do over spring break to change it up a bit!

Local Activities to do During Spring:

1. Annual Cherry Blossom Festival

  • The Annual Cherry Blossom Festival is one of Washington DC’s biggest events out of the whole year. Thousands of people come from all over the world to see these beautiful flowers in their prime. Everyone needs to experience this festival at least once in their life!

2. United States Botanic Garden

  • Located in Washington DC is the United States Botanic Garden, one of the most beautiful conservatories in the world! There are many plants from all over the world and from all different climates (including tropical forests) located at this conservatory.

3. Smithsonian Museums and zoo

  • There is a wide variety of Smithsonian Museums located in Washington DC. Some of the best are the Air and Space Museum (featuring 8 new exhibits!) and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Not only are there Smithsonian Museums, but there is also the Smithsonian National Zoo, which houses an array of cute animals.

4. Hike

  • There are many hiking trails located all around Virginia. Two of the most famous places with gorgeous hiking trails in Fairfax, Virginia, are Daniels Run Park and Great Falls Park. Great Falls park is especially gorgeous because some of the trails are right against the water!

5. National Harbor

  • Yes, National Harbor is stationed in Maryland, which might seem far. However, National Harbor is right outside of DC making it around only 30 minutes away (distance may vary based on where you are situated).
