Everything You Need to Know Before Seeing ‘Fast X’

5+Things+You+Need+to+Know+Before+Seeing+Fast+X

After much waiting the new Fast and Furious movie, Fast X, has been released and has already grossed over $660 million dollars worldwide. However, before running out to see this one, there are details from past movies in the franchise that everyone needs to remember. So, the Outlook has taken it upon ourselves to compile a list of the five most important details that need to be remembered from the Fast and Furious franchise.

SPOILER ALERT: This article includes spoilers from past movies in the Fast and Furious franchise. There are no Fast X spoilers included.

  1. Who is Dante Reyes?

This character is connected to the Fast Five (F5) movie. I would highly recommend going back to watch F5 before seeing Fast X. The antagonist in F5 was Hernan Reyes (played by Joaquim de Almeida), who was a drug lord that came into contact with Dom (played by Vin Diesel) and his crew. By the end of the movie, Hernan Reyes had been killed. Now in Fast X, his son, Dante Reyes (played by Jason Momoa), is seeking revenge for the death of his father, making him the main antagonist of the new film. In addition to seeking revenge for his father, Reyes is also upset because in F5 Dom and his crew stole $100 million from Reyes and got away with it.

  1. Han is alive, has a daughter, and now knows Deckard Shaw

Han (played by Sung Kang) was said to have been killed in an explosion after a car crash in Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift (F3). In a shocking turn of events, F6 divulged that Han was actually assassinated by Deckard Shaw (played by Jason Statham). Three movies later in F9, Han shows up alive and well. It turns out that Mr. Nobody had helped him fake his death. Also, in F9, it is shown that Han has adopted a girl named Elle (played by Anna Sawai) and has been raising her by himself. Lastly, in a credits scene during F9, Han confronts Shaw. No words were said, only looks were exchanged before the screen cut back to credits. It is possible that Han and Shaw will continue their talk and maybe even work as a team to defeat the villain in Fast X.

  1. Dom has a son, but not with Letty

In the fourth film, it is believed that Letty Ortiz (played by Michelle Rodriguez) was killed. After her supposed death, Dom got together with Elena Neves (played by Elsa Pataky). However, in Fast and Furious six, it is revealed that Letty is still alive. At this time, Elena learned that she was pregnant with Dom’s child, but she kept this a secret and was waiting for the right time to tell him. Now, Letty and Dom are back together and are raising Brian Marcos (Dom and Elena’s son) together.

  1. Jakob Toretto is on the run

Jakob Toretto (played by John Cena) is Dom and Mia’s brother. In the F9, Dom and Jakob started off as enemies. Jakob was always jealous of Dom and was done living in his shadow. Not to mention, Dom would always take his anger out on Jakob because he was seen as the “screw up” of the family. But, by the end of F9, the two made up after Jakob opened up and shared the truth of how their father died. At the end of F9, Jakob went on the run to hide from his enemies.

  1. Where is Cipher?

In F8, the main antagonist was Cipher (played by Charlize Theron) who was a brilliant hacker. In this movie, she kidnapped Dom’s son, Brian, and killed Elena Neves, Brian’s mother. So, Dom and others are still holding a grudge against her. She was last seen in F9 when she escaped Otto. Her location is now unknown, but you can expect to see her in Fast X.

Now that everyone is caught up, go see the new Fast and Furious movie!
