NBA Storylines
The NBS season has been filled with great stories, but these are the best.
The NBA has had many incredible storylines this season. There are so many amazing plays and games from so many different players. With all these incredible games, it is hard to choose just a few that stand out from the rest. The NBA is lucky enough to have some of the best athletes in the world, and those athletes have been performing at a high level. Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, James Harden, and so many more have been playing amazingly this year. It makes for an exciting MVP race this year. The three stories from this year that have stood out are the Celtics win streak, Victor Oladipo, and the OKC Thunder.
The Celtics win streak is one to remember. It was the fourth longest in the storied franchises history. The Celtics won sixteen straight games in a row after losing their first two. The Celtics had some easy games during their win streak, such as the Atlanta Hawks, but they also had some tough games against teams like the Golden State Warriors. The Celtics looked unbeatable. They made plenty of late game comebacks against teams such as the Dallas Mavericks. No one thought that the five hundred Miami Heat would be the ones to beat the them. Maybe the basketball gods forgot Lebron wasn’t on the Heat, but it was the Heat that beat the Celtics to end their win streak.
The second story line that stood out is that of Victor Oladipo. Oladipo has played incredibly this year, averaging 24.3 points per game while also putting up 5.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. The numbers that really stand out are his field goal percentages. Oladipo is shooting forty seven percent from the field and a whopping forty two percent from three. To make thing even better, he is shooting in the high eighties. His defense has been on point as well, averaging almost two steals a game and just under a block as well. The thing that makes this storyline special is the fact that Oladipo was passed on by two different teams, the OKC Thunder and the Orlando Magic.
This leads perfectly into the next storyline. The struggles of OKC are not a secret to anyone. The Thunder are thirteen and fourteen this season, which, even at face value, is not that good. A team with three all stars, one of which is the reigning MVP of the league, should not be thirteen and fourteen. The Thunder has shown flashes of greatness, such as the blow out of the Warriors. The Thunder have lost multiple games this season when favored by double digits which is unexceptable. A team that has three all stars and has one of the best defenses shouldn’t lose those games. The offense uses isolation too often, which leads to stagnant sets and poor ball movement. The excuse early in the season was that they needed time to mesh. Time is running out.
