Barbie movie preview
All there is to know about the must-see film
For over 60 years, Barbie has been a beloved icon of American culture. Created by Ruth Handler in 1959, Barbie has evolved from a simple toy to a cultural phenomenon that has inspired countless books, movies, and even a few controversies along the way. Despite the ups and downs, Barbie remains an important part of many people’s childhood memories and continues to inspire new generations of kids around the world. That being said, the highly anticipated live action Barbie movie (Barbie: Big City, Big Dreams) is coming out on July 21st, 2023. Rated PG-13, it is catering towards teens and adults: unlike most fans originally thought (and to their delight). Starring Margot Robbie (Barbie), Ryan Gosling (Ken), and a few other beloved cast members (such as Will Ferrel and Dua Lipa) this fun-filled cast is sure to cause a hit and create an unforgettable cinematic experience.
The movie will be about a doll living in “Barbieland” who is expelled from the town for being considered ‘less than perfect.’ She sets off into the real, human world and tries to make a life for herself in New York City, which doesn’t always go as planned. The movie is intended to be a funny, relatable production and is anticipated to garner a lot of attention from fans, the media, and perhaps several awards (such as an Oscar for costume and design). Now considered a must-see by several critics, fans shouldn’t wait to run to the theaters on opening night- it will definitely be worth the wait.
