The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, and Prince William of Wales welcomed a baby girl on May 2, 2015 at 6:09 am BST. The healthy baby girl was 8 lbs., 3 oz and born in St. Mary’s Hospital in London. This baby girl is fourth in line for the crown; her brother Prince George is third in line. She is the first princess to be born in 25 years.
For the past three weeks, the world has been waiting in anticipation for Middleton to give birth. Many people, including Prince Charles, were hoping for a girl. When it was announced, Britain turned pink. Some landmarks that went pink include Auckland’s Sky Tower, the BT Tower, and the London Bridge.
On May 4, Prince William and Duchess Kate announced the name of the new Princess of Wales, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
