Every year around the holiday season many game developers proudly release their new video games to the public that many people look forward to play on their consoles for hours on end. Many video games revolve around annual series’ that create a popular story line for players to recreate, with special settings and exciting characters. With some games however, the public relish the game so much that the developers can’t say no to releasing a similar game with new improvements every year. These games are all made for the public to enjoy, and with the abundance of games created for so many different genres, the titles keep selling, and the marketplace for video games continues to grow to around the world.

This Fall brought back the releases of many trending games from from previous years such as Madden NFL 16, FIFA 16, Call of Duty Black Ops 3, and Star Wars Battlefront.

FIFA and Madden NFL 16 were both released by EA sports who continue to please the public with their works every year. Both annual titles have been very popular across the world as both revolve around the very popular sports of Football and Soccer. With both releases of Madden and FIFA 16, new features have been introduced for each game’s most popular “Ultimate Team,” in the form of “Draft Champions,” and the “FUT Draft.” “I think Madden has gotten better because the draft mode they added,” says 10th grader Nick Berten. “It let’s you use many players you couldn’t use otherwise in other game modes.” Both are very similar and interesting game modes in that you can take as many players from around the world and make your ultimate team. With more compelling game modes added every year, EA Sports continues to surprise the public to great extents.

This Fall has also brought the return of the old fan favorite series, Star Wars Battlefront, in its third major release following a span of almost ten years from the release of Star Wars Battlefront 2. The series started with the first ever Star Wars Battlefront in 2004, released on the Xbox Original, as well as the PlayStation 2 and Windows Programs. The series became very popular among fans as it was based off the award winning movie series, Star Wars, and created a first person shooter environment around the actual story line of the movie. A year after the release of the original, on Oct. 31, 2005, Lucas Arts released Star Wars Battlefront 2 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox Original, and Windows Programs. Following the game’s release, the series had gone into a hibernation for almost ten years with rumors spouting every now and then but with no actual conclusion until the Fall of 2013 when EA announced it would be partnering with DICE to make the third game in the series. Star Wars Battlefront made record breaking sales because of its new graphics and features now for the first time on the next generation consoles.

The most popular first person shooter franchise Call of Duty, is back at it again with another release in the most popular series Call of Duty Black Ops. The developers of the series, Treyarch, have released the third game in the series, Call of Duty Black Ops 3, with all new multiplayer features, a thrilling campaign, and the return of the renowned game mode Call of Duty Zombies. The publishers of Call of Duty, Activision Inc., have now released 3 games to both of the next generation consoles, being the PlayStation 4 and the XBOX One. This will most likely be the last game in the fan favorite series but it is yet to be known until Treyarch elaborate on the topic. In conclusion Call of Duty continue to amaze the public every year with great game play along with graphics for all audiences.
