Recently, there was a terrorist attack in Paris, causing many countries to greatly increase security. One of those countries, Belgium, had received news of a threat of a Paris-style attack in the capital, Brussels. One of the suspects from the catastrophic Paris attack was said to be seen in Belgium.
The Belgian Federal Prosecutor’s office discovered weapons in a search of one of the three suspect’s home. But no deadly weapon or explosive was found.
A new discovery was made in Turkey, where one of the suspects behind the Paris Attacks, 26 year old Ahmet Dahmani, was said to be from Belgium. From there, the Belgium National Crisis Center raised the terrorist alert for Brussels to Level 4, declaring that the threat was serious. One of the Paris attackers, Salah Abdeslam was said to have crossed into the Brussel’s area and still might be located there, according to Paris police officials. Police and soldiers increased safety measures and patrolled the Brussel region.
Belgium Prime Minsister, Charles Michel, assured people and officials that extreme safety measures have been taken at a news conference after an emergency meeting. He stated that the government crisis cell would meet again and discuss the threat.
New advancements have been made regarding the threat. One of the seven attackers has not been identified and the search for the 26 year old Abdeslam is being continued.
