As the holiday season rolls around once again, so does the much-dreaded stress of buying the perfect gift for your Secret Santa(s). For those of you who have no clue where to even begin your everlasting Christmas shopping adventures, follow these steps to finding the perfect present for your Secret Santa:

1. Getting to Know You

Because you only need to buy a present for one person for Secret Santa, get to know your person and their likes and dislikes. Hopefully this will be an easy step, assuming you got someone you’re friends with. You need to be subtle about this so they don’t find out you’re giving them a gift, but take some time to have conversations with this person, or ask low-key questions about their likes and dislikes. If you really can’t ask them upfront, feel free to contact a mutual friend to ask them for you. It’s best to get the greatest possible gift for them that will leave them talking about how great their Secret Santa was this year.

2. Choose Your Item

Once you’ve figured out what your person likes, get them something that relates to their likes. Even something that combines multiple likes into one! For example, if someone’s favorite color is blue and they like fuzzy socks, buy them blue fuzzy socks. Get them something that they wouldn’t already have a lot of or that they wouldn’t be able to use much, with the exception of food. Food and candy is always a go-to when buying Secret Santa gifts, and is easy to combine with another gift as well. For example, instead of buying someone a mug or a makeup pouch, stuff them with wrapped candy so the person can have another surprise on the inside.

3.Choose Your Store

It helps to have at least a general knowledge of what you want for this person before you hit the stores so you don’t get them a bunch of useless knickknacks. On top of that, try to avoid cheap stores that carry a lot of junk so you can avoid giving a dumb gift. Choose a store that carries a nice selection of items where you can find what you want easily. For girls, try Victoria’s Secret, Sephora, CVS, or Target. For guys, try Dick’s, GameStop, Macy’s, or a food gift card. Wrap it up no matter how great a gift you got, good packaging is always essential. Make sure to get stylish wrapping paper or a cute bag to put the gifts in. Also write the person’s name on the gift so they know it’s meant for them and you don’t have to give it away by telling them who it’s for. Hopefully you’ll have the present that everyone wishes is going to them.

Hopefully you can now have the perfect gift for your Secret Santa and conquer the holidays once and for all! That is, until next year’s Secret Santa begins.
