The Pope has just recently announced that Mother Teresa will be officially canonized as a saint. Canonization is the process of becoming a saint once deceased. Mother Teresa was an extremely influential figure in the Catholic church and in the lives of many people until her death in September 1997, at the age of 87. She founded institutions for people in need and was a nun in the Catholic Church. She spent her life helping the poor and those in need of guidance. She made a long-lasting impact on the world today in many ways, and her canonization process will officially appreciate and recognize all that she has done.
At only 18 years old, Mother Teresa began her calling in the Church. Ever since then, she was always needed somewhere – either physically or spiritually. She nursed people to health, she helped the poor, and she guided people to the right path in life. She was always looking out for others by making the world a better place.
Many people are seeing this canonization as a gift for Christmas time. Since Mother Teresa was widely recognized in the Church, the Pope most likely declared Mother Teresa as a saint near Christmas on purpose. This is a huge step for the Catholic Church because they have now gained a wonderful and greatly appreciated saint.
The process to becoming a saint is a very long one. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2003, and she has continued on the path until now, 2015, where she will canonized by Pope Francis. The world was very lucky to have such an amazing person make such an impact on the lives of many people. The legacy of Mother Teresa will carry on as she becomes a saint, with people following her teachings and guidance.
