Netflix has exceeded its popularity with its new release of various reality television shows. Love is Blind first aired on February 13, 2020, and is currently on its third season. The show has generated quite a buzz. It has been ranked among the top 10 shows in the US since its new season was released on October 19.

Love is Blind: Falling in love without seeing each other face to face

In an attempt to prove if love is truly blind, a group of men and women are challenged to fall in love solely through an emotional connection without any exterior factors. The show begins with the men and women speed dating through a ‘pod’ with a wall dividing their rooms. The individuals communicate verbally through the pods without physically seeing each other. The members then decide whom they felt the deepest connection with and can realistically envision the rest of their lives with. The men then propose to the woman who reciprocates a mutual connection.

Many would agree that proposing to someone prior to knowing them for only 10 days is absurd. However, after the 10 days of talking in the pods, the couples are then engaged for an additional 28 days after seeing each other. They are initially questioned about their physical attraction to one another. While some couples have no trouble in paradise, others have a hard time building that ‘other’ connection.

Additionally, the 28 days go by quickly while the couples live together, plan their weddings and meet each other’s families. Each couple goes through different triumphs in their relationship as well as facing various doubts.

Finally, the time has come. The bride and groom are face to face at the altar and asked, “Is love truly blind?” Some of the couples prove the question to be correct and say ‘I do’. While others don’t and leave us questioning if an emotional connection is just not enough for love.
