The Fitting Design
It’s that time of year again where you need to start thinking about how to decorate for spooky season. Luckily, there are many things to decorate your home with that are fun to make. One of those decorations is carved pumpkins. Carving pumpkins is a great activity to do with family and friends, but a common issue is what exactly to carve onto your pumpkin. There are so many ideas and options that it is sometimes hard to chose.
One idea design idea to carve is your favorite television show character. There’s nothing funnier than seeing Homer Simpson from The Simpsons or Phineas from Phineas and Ferb as you walk up to someone’s door to say trick or treat. Typically, it would be a good idea to carve a T.V. show character that is cartoon because having to carve every detail of someone’s face is usually very difficult for someone who isn’t as artistically talented.
Another creative idea is to carve your favorite food or candy. Along with carving candy, it could specifically be the candy that your house is going to hand out. This idea is also easy to carve given that most foods aren’t complicated to draw out. Something like an apple or a banana takes a few quick strokes of a pencil and when you actually carve the design onto the pumpkin, there’s so much space left for creative touches.
In addition, a design commonly used is carving a silly face into your pumpkin. There are many different levels of difficulty related to this design. The more difficult ones have different depths at which you carve the pumpkins skin and the more simple ones usually go all the way through. But overall, this design of carving pumpkins gives you entertaining results.
Lastly, and probably the most used, is a spooky monster or a menacing bat. There are many different ways to carve these designs into your pumpkin based on the fact that these have been around since the tradition of pumpkin carving started. Some are severely difficult and pay very close attention to detail but some are very simple.
Pumpkin carving is an art and art is expressed in many different ways. So don’t let anyone tell you that you’re designing your pumpkin wrong because there really is no wrong way to do it. Decorating for Halloween should, and most times always is, meant to be fun and enjoyable.
